Appointments, invoicing and payment

Appointment times
On weekdays during general office hours (exceptions may be made for evening and weekend appointments). Occasionally it may not be possible to meet within the timeframe you require, or there is a reason why your instruction cannot be progressed. If so, this will be explained to you and you will be provided with the necessary information to locate an alternative notary.

Where?
At my address in Beckenham or off-site. Visits to your home, place of business or other convenient location. Depending upon the type of notarial act required, it may not always be possible to complete the documentation during the appointment. If this is the case, it will be done shortly thereafter with the intention of accommodating your whereabouts and any timeframe you may have.

How long will it take?
Notarial acts are varied; some more complicated than others. The typical appointment time is between 15 minutes (for the most simple instruction) to 1 hour (for more complicated instructions). There may be time spent in advance in the form of correspondence and preparation. The form of notarial act may involve the preparation of a separate certificate or the document itself may require additional wording which we try to undertake at the appointment but which is not always possible.

When acting in the capacity of Commissioner for Oaths, the appointment time is usually very short as it is limited to a signature of a document and form of declaration/oath.

When acting as an accepted 'certifier' (for domestic matters) or 'conveyancer' (for Land Registry ID forms), the appointment time should not be lengthy so long as you have brought the correct documentation.

Invoice & Payment
You will receive information of fees and disbursements prior to instruction or very shortly thereafter. Details of this and how we invoice can be find in our section - Fees and Terms of Business. In brief, payment of these are due when the notarial act has been completed (generally, when the document concerned has been notarised). This may be retained pending payment in full which can be made by card or bank transfer and is, usually, paid at the appointment. You will be provided with a receipted invoice.
Please note that where we agree to pay a disbursement on your behalf, prior to the completion of the notarial act, the amount of such disbursement will be paid in advance to us by you, on the basis of our Fees and Terms of Business.
